Grilled Red Pork "Char Siew Pork"

If you crave for an evening snack or even a local dinner and you are okay with pork, "char siew" pork might serve you right in this context.

Char Siew, which basically means red grilled pork in Chinese, is a local delicious delicacy sold through meat stalls or vendors mostly around the market. Obviously, it is grilled pork, with red coloring, served with gravy sweet soy sauce. You can enjoy it alone as a dipping meat snack or with rice as a full-blown meal.
Char Siew Pork with Steamed Rice
The price for char siew pork alone, found in street vendor, is around 5000KHR (US$1.25) per 100g and usually comes with its sweet soy sauce together with slices of cucumber. These street vendors could be easily recognized by its hanging duck and chunks of red meat inside a glass-clad mobile stall.

For a meal, however, it is fairly difficult to find a restaurant for this kind of dish.
"Palo House" (ផ្ទះផាកឡូវ) /p'tas pa:k'lov/, located around 1000 meters or 15 minutes walk from Toul Tum Pung Market (Russian Market) (maps), is a good go-to place for a fast, cheap dinner. A plate of steamed white rice with somewhat 50g of char siew pork including some veggies and the sauce cost 10000KHR (US$2.5). The preparation time is 5-10 minutes depending on how many customers it has. The atmosphere is a blend between a local street restaurant and a good upscale lighting. The sellers speak little English and the menu is not written in English either. However, you still can show them the pictures below so you could still get this amazing dish.

Whole set includes steamed white rice, charsiew pork, slices of cucumber, salad, fermented papaya and gravy soy sauce
